Keep in mind tha...Perhaps but I don't think so. Keep in mind that CBS is currently developing a new TV version of Trek that will undoubtedly draw heavily on what has come before. That means they'd want to keep everyone else out of their sandbox so as not to dilute the new show. It's not so much the general "TOS aesthetic" that is the problem, IMO, but rather using Trek-specific concepts like Klingons, Andorians, Vulcans, and Starfleet.
